We all scream for ice cream. Aurora’s On Havana Street celebrates National Ice Cream Day on July 17 from noon to 4 p.m. with a Frozen Treats Progressive Party. Participating shops will offer free samples of their frozen treats, including Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt (10601 E. Garden Dr.), Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream (1155 S. Havana St.), Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers (1103 S. Iola St.), Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custard (1105 S. Havana St.) and Big Daddy’s Pizza (1155 S. Havana St.). Musical chairs

If you can’t wait for the next Colorado Symphony season, this special preview of select works from the 2016/17 line-up will be music to your ears. The music takes center stage on July 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Boettcher Concert Hall (1000 14th St., Denver). Admission is free, but tickets are required. The complimentary tickets are only available in person at the Boettcher Concert Hall box office. All seating is general admission. Fair deal

The fun doesn’t start at the Arapahoe County Fair until July 28, but now is the time to buy tickets. Daily admission includes unlimited carnival rides, all rodeos, main stage concerts, two nights of fireworks, 4-H shows, tractor pulls, the high-flying Dock Dogs competition and plenty of other entertainment. Little ones can compete in the mutton bustin’ contest and pet furry and feathery farm animals. Buy tickets online before July 28 and save $5 – with tickets just $10 each.
