Mahindra Racing MGP30 gets an all new gearbox, to debut at Sachsenring, Germany

Mahindra Racing scores maiden win in Moto3 in Dutch GP (2)

Mahindra Racing has armed its Moto3 motorcycle, MGP3O, with an all-new gearbox for the Mahindra MGP3O. Having successfully developed and tested the new transmission during the past six weeks, the race was on to produce enough units to be able to homologate the new part and provide one to each of the eight Mahindra and two Peugeot Motocycle riders at the Sachsenring. The new transmission is the latest in a list of planned upgrades to come from Mahindra Racing’s state-of-the-art development facility at Besozzo, near Varese. It follows a new shifting mechanism introduced in Catalunya.

Mahindra Racing’s CEO Mufaddal Choonia says that the team has been flat out working with the suppliers in order to be able to deliver the new gearbox to Germany. With a quicker, smoother change both up and down the gears, this is an important development to give all of the riders more confidence.

Jorge Martin, rider for the official Aspar Mahindra team, was enthusiastic about the performance of the MGP3O fitted with the new gearbox at this morning’s first session at the Sachsenring. Speaking about the new transmission, Martin said that it’s a massive improvement for the team. Aspar Mahindra has problems with the old gearbox in the first part of the season. In first practice today Martin got the first chance to try the new box, and it worked perfectly. The Spaniard added that it was very reliable and shifted quickly.
