IGNOU offering master’s programme in Dietetics and Food Service Management

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Pune will offer a master of science degree in Dietetics and Food Service Management (MSc DFSM) Programme from this year onwards.

PUNE: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Pune will offer a master of science degree in Dietetics and Food Service Management (MSc DFSM) Programme from this year onwards.
A press statement issued by IGNOU said that the programme is being offered in a multimedia package, which includes print material and audio-visual material.
The programme is multidisciplinary in nature. It draws knowledge from disciplines such as Biochemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, Sociology, Biostatistics, Food Science, Management, among others.
The MSc DSFM Programme is designed to help the learners gain knowledge, develop critical abilities, offer scientific opinion on popular nutrition, dietetics and other related issues and controversies, acquire a basic grounding in research techniques, train and develop as a diet counsellor and nutrition/health communicator, develop as institution food administrator or food service managers, and develop entrepreneurship skills.
The programme is of two years duration (minimum duration), and can be completed in five years (maximum duration). The programme fee is Rs 27,000.00 and there is no limit to age, added the statement.
The eligibility for the programme is a graduate degree in home science with specialisation in food and nutrition, dietetics and clinical nutrition or a post graduate diploma in dietetics and public health nutrition or its equivalent.
The Programme is being on offer through IGNOU Study Centre, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, Thergaon, Chinchwad.
