Kashmir unrest: Five injured in fresh protests in Baramulla amid strict curfew

Around 10 am when protests broke out at Khaitengan village, police fired on the protests in which five persons were injured. The injured were admitted at District Hospital Baramulla.

Five people were injured when police opened fire on protesters in Khai Tangen area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Around 10 am when protests broke out at Khaitengan village, police fired on the protests in which five persons were injured. Four of those injured were shifted to a hospital in Srinagar after receiving first aid at the District Hospital Baramulla.

A senior doctor said conditions of both the injured is stable. “One had received bullet in leg and another had spleen injury. They are both stable.” Meanwhile, strict curfew is in place across the Valley and people are not allowed to venture outside from their houses. Police and paramilitary have sealed all the roads and highways. Only ambulances are allowed to ply.

Apprehensive of protests, the government on Thursday had decided to impose curfew across Kashmir and snapped all the mobile phones, only BSNL services are working. Since last Friday after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander in South Kashmir, 37 civilians have been killed and over 1600 sustained injuries.
