Britney Spears and Katy Perry have gone to war. Well, their fans have.

Both singers have released new singles, prompting online arguments about whose is better.

Katy Perry's latest is called Rise and it will be used for this year's Olympics coverage.

Britney's new one is Make Me with rapper G-Eazy.

So far Britney's beating Katy in the US iTunes chart.

She's at number one, while Perry's only managed slot six.

So of course fans are throwing Twitter shade.

Luana says her hair stood on end. We're presuming that's a positive reaction.

One Britney fan even claimed Katy's single was produced by Dr Luke - who's been accused of rape by Kesha, which he denies.

Katy was quick to end that rumour, with a one word put down.

Perry's been pretty active on social media, tweeting in the run-up to the single release day and retweeting fans' praise.

Britney has been quieter, sending just two tweets about her new single.

Perry also managed to confuse one fan by calling her new song an "amuse-bouche", which is a term more commonly used for tiny pieces of food.
