Kahalam, a food and music festival showcasing the best of food and music from Kerala is all set to take Bengaluru by storm this weekend at the Manpho convention centre from 10 A.M. on July 16 to 10 p.m. on July 17.

The festival, which is part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the St Mary’s Orthodox Church, Jalahalli has been conceived by chefs Regi Mathew, John CK and Augustine KV known for their signature Kerala preparations. Thomas Abraham, one of the organisers says, “The festivities are all about good food and music. The proceeds from the festival will go to St Mary’s School for the needy. The festival will have performances by choirs including one by renowned playback artiste MG Sreekumar.” An Inter Church Band Competition where over 50 churches are expected to participate is also part of the festivities.

“We expect more than 15,000 people to turn up to tuck in delicacies from across Kerala. We hope to go beyond the staple of red rice and fish curry that has become synonymous with Kerala food. Apart from professionals, this edition also includes individuals selling home cooked delicacies.”

“We wanted to create a space where you can have fun, enjoy the food and take your time to explore the variety of cuisine that Kerala offers. It is not meant to be food you can have on the go.”
