Indore : Police on Thursday booked a doctor for allegedly beating up a man to death at his nursing home in Ujjain.
Dr Ghanshyam Jethwani was booked for murder following statements of the perpetrators of the crime that he was present when two youths were thrashed in the basement of Guru Nanak Hosptial and Research Centre in Ujjain on July 9. One of the youths had died during treatment.
Additional superintendent of police Amrendra Singh said earlier hospital administrator Murli Patidar and five other employees were booked for the murder. They were accused of thrashing one Gopal alias Nitin Sharma and Uday Singh Rana at the hospital.
Gopal had died during treatment following which the hospital administrator was arrested and sent on police remand. During interrogation, Patidar claimed that Dr Jethwani was present when the youths were beaten up. The attack took place over a dispute related to commission given to people for bringing in patients to the nursing home.
On Thursday, investigators visited the nursing home and seized the computers and records of CCTVs installed at the private medical facility. Statements of the eyewitnesses were also being recorded. Dr Jethwani was yet to be arrested.
