Mysuru: Chamarajanagar MP R Dhruvanarayana has said that the four-laning of Mysuru-Nanjangud Expressway will be completed by Dasara. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is four-laning the stretch - from Moolehole in Bandipur Tiger Reserve border to Kollegal via Mysuru.-- as part of upgradation of NH-212.
Inspecting the civil works taken as part of the project in Nanjangud near here on Thursday, the MP said that the stretch will be ready by October.
Some 90% of the works has been completed, he said, adding that the construction of a bridge across river Kapila in Nanjangud was delayed owing to issues in the shifting of power lines. "DC C Shikha is holding a meeting over the problem this week," he told reporters after the inspection. The Congress MP said that the contractor has been given three more months to complete the pending works on the Mysuru-Nanjangud stretch.
The MP, who was not happy with the pace and quality of work in Nanjangud, directed NHAI authorities to replace UGD lines. Additional funds has been sanctioned to build sewer along the four-lane NH in the temple town, he said, adding that the Union government has agreed to build a service lane in the town. But he expressed his inability to build a bus bay at Hullahalli Circle owing to land issues. Dhruvanarayana said that the forest department has been asked to spare land at the junction to build the bus bay.
He directed the officials to plant saplings along NH-212 as hundreds of trees have been axed for the project.
