Student dies on HPS premises

July 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A fifth standard student died on the premises of the prestigious Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet on Thursday.

The boy was son of Dr. Nagi Reddy who was one of the office-bearers of the HPS Parents Teachers Association. Reasons for the boy’s death were not yet known clearly. Even the Begumpet police, under whose jurisdiction the school comes, were not apprised of the precise details of how the boy died. Different versions were doing the rounds about the cause of the student’s death. While some said the boy was at the playground when a football hit him after which he fell down and eventually died, another unconfirmed report said the boy suddenly collapsed while running around and died subsequently.

No complaint lodged

Speaking to his close friends, the boy’s father was believed to have said that he had received a phone call from the nurse of the school that the boy fell unconscious. “When I rang up again, the phone call was not received,” he was quoted as saying by persons known to him. “One from the school’s security staff came to the police station and informed us that the boy had collapsed at the ground and was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead. The parents didn’t lodge any complaint,” Begumpet Inspector G. Jagan said. The boy was one of the twin sons of the doctor.
