Mangaluru: Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS) and IKP Knowledge P ark, India's premier Science Park, in association with Dakshina Kannada district administration will organize a meet of entrepreneurs in the IT sector in Mangaluru in September. Delegates from IT, BT, Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), healthcare sectors, entrepreneurs and policy makers will take part in the meet to be held at the council hall of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) in the first week of September.

The day-long meet with technical sessions and interactions with officials has been planned to bring more IT related industries to tier II cities like Mangaluru, said K N Praveen, general manager, KBITS. He was speaking at a preliminary meeting convened by deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim here on Thursday.
"The event will be organized to attract entrepreneurs and startup ventures to discuss about developing IT sector in Mangaluru, which has good number of engineering colleges. Nearly 200 stakeholders are expected to take part in the meet where technical sessions and interaction with the department will be organized. Emphasis will be given to highlight the strengths of Mangaluru, infrastructure and conducive ecosystem with more thrust on innovation and incubation. Special emphasis will be given to start-ups and thereby, efforts will be made to generate employment and prevent brain drain from tier II cities like Mangaluru," Praveen said.
The meeting will also throw open opportunities for companies in Mangaluru and Bengaluru to have better tie-up and develop IT sector, he said.
IKP Knowledge Park chairman and CEO Deepanwita Chattopadhyay, KBITS senior consultant Prathiba Gangoji Rao, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat CEO P I Sreevidya, MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazir, representatives of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Infosys and other IT companies took part in the preliminary meet.
