Friday's forecast: Wet, hot East; stormy Plains

A slow-moving cold front will bring some rainshowers to the East on Friday as severe storms rumble in portions of the Plains.

East: A hot, humid Friday is forecast for most of the East as a cold front slogs toward the coast, which will bring a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Central U.S.: Some severe thunderstorms are forecast to hit parts of Kansas and Oklahoma, with hail and high winds the main threats.

West: The Northwest will be dry and clear on Friday while the Southwest stays hot.
