The renovated snakeboat (palliyodam) of the Nedumprayar Palliyoda Karayogam was launched into the Pampa at a ceremonial function held near Kozhencherry on Thursday.

Nair Service Society director board member D. Anilkumar lighted the lamp. Villagers thronged the riverbank to witness the ceremony.

Palliyoda Seva Sanghom president K.G. Sasidharan Pillai inaugurated the public function and Nedumprayar Palliyoda Karayogam president C.V. Gopalakrishnan presided.

Renovated

The snakeboat has been renovated by master craftsmen Ayroor Chellappan Achary and Ayroor Santhosh at a cost of Rs.13 lakh.

The palliyodam made its maiden trip to the Sree Parthasarathy temple ghats.

With the Vallasadya season scheduled to begin on Friday, the palliyoda karayogams are busy launching their snakeboats into the Pampa.
