BJP MP promises evidence against Jat agitators, to file 7 plaints today
Gurgaon: Tuesday's TOI report of the Haryana government commission probing Jat agitation atrocities not receiving a single complaint from victims energised various interest groups into action on Wednesday. Representatives of non-Jat communities led the move, claiming they'll file complaints before the 30-day deadline expires on Saturday.
Talking to TOI, BJP MP from Kurukshetra Raj Kumar Saini, who strongly opposed Jats getting reservation, said he alone will send seven complaints.
"We've enough proof to establish widespread violence took place in several areas under my constituency. There was also an incident in which the SHO of a local police station, a Jat, instigated people from his community to loot and attack non-Jats. We're gathering incriminating evidence and will submit it along with FIRs lodged by police to the commission by Thursday."
"I've met victims all day. So far, we've prepared seven complaints - three from Kurukshetra and Kaithal, three others from Gohana. None of us knew of the commission before, or else we'd have filed many more complaints. The government should have advertised the commission better," he said.
Yadav, too, lashed out against the Khattar government, alleging the commission was a mere eyewash. "A majority of the victims come from villages and don't read newspapers. The government should have done much more to create awareness about this commission. That Gurgaon was chosen as its office raises question over the government's intent. I came to know of its existence on Wednesday. I'm sure most victims are unaware they're supposed to lodge complaints with it. If I come across a victim, I'll ask them to do so," said Satish Yadav, president, Haryana Yadav Mahasabha.
Justice (retired) S N Jha, who is heading the commission, said the probe would begin once all complaints are received.
