Karnal, July 14

A team of the police and the Food and Administration Department raided three places today and seized a large quantity of medical intoxicants. Senior Drug Controller Parjinder Singh, Drug Inspector Gurcharan Singh, and City SHO Mohan Lal, along with other officials, raided a house at Subhash Gate here and seized intoxicants. Rakesh Nagpal, owner of the house, was arrested

Parjinder Singh said: “We also raided a house at Sector16 and confiscated a small quantity of intoxicants. Intoxicants worth Rs 3 lakh were later seized from a house at New Prem Nagar. Kamal Sikka who was staying as a tenant at the house was arrested.” Gurcharan Singh said both arrested persons did not have the licence to sell the intoxicants and bought them from Delhi.

Parjinder Singh said the issue came to light on Wednesday when a team raided a medical store at Ismailabad in Kurukshetra district and the store owner informed the officials that he bought the intoxicants from Karnal.

The SHO said: “We have registered a case under the Drug Act against Nagpal and Sikka. They will be produced in a court and we will seek their remand for further inquiry.”
