Rs 66.65 cr for EWS housing scheme

CHANDIGARH: The Centre has given Rs 66.65 crore to state under the Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna for 2016-17.

The Centre has given Rs 66.65 crore to state under the Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna for 2016-17. This was informed at a meeting of the state-level sanctioning and monitoring committee on Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana(Urban) held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary DS Dhesi here today. While the Central Government would contribute Rs 40 crore, Haryana’s share would be Rs 26.65 crore. The committee approved a project to construct 759 dwelling units under the scheme for families belonging to the economically weaker sections and low-income groups in Yamunanagar district at a cost of Rs 22 crore . Besides, Rs 8.13 crore was also approved to strengthen urban local bodies and undertake training and various other activities. The Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna would be implemented in the state in two phases. In the first phase, nine districts— Faridabad, Karnal, Hisar, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Gurgaon, Sonipat, Panipat and Sirsa— have been included.
