Russian Investigative Committee Detains Three Supected Neo-Nazis

Two members and one of the leaders of the neo-Nazi organization Misanthropic Division structural cells were detained in Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and Arkhangelsk, according to Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Three suspected members of the international neo-Nazi organization Misanthropic Division have been detained in Russia, while a search for others is underway, Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said Thursday.

Members of the neo-Nazi organization have reportedly taken part in the Euromaidan protests in Kiev and in the war in eastern Ukraine in support of the government forces.

"As part of a criminal investigation, two members and one of the leaders of the organization's structural cells were detained in Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and Arkhangelsk. They have been remanded in custody at the request of the [lead] investigator," Markin said.

Markin added that the Committee is cooperating with other law enforcement agencies in Russia to continue its search for other members of the Misanthropic Division and similar extremist organizations.

On Tuesday, the Committee said it had opened a criminal investigation into the suspected leader of the Misanthropic Division, Dmitry Pavlov, who is accused of creating an extremist organization, calls to engage in terrorist activities, as well as Nazism rehabilitation. Pavlov is believed to currently be hiding in Germany, according to the Investigative Committee.
