We all bore witness to the awesomesauce Nike ad when it descended on us at the IIFA television premiere last Sunday. Since then, the viral ad has been on the rounds on every social media platform imaginable. And we can't help but play it on loop.

Because, dude. Not only is it a festival of badassery, it's also a celebration of women in sports like we have never witnessed before!

Da Da Ding. Da Da Ding. You have to agree, the ad's become some sort of a national anthem for anyone who enjoys sports.

That being said, not many would be able to name the sportswomen who featured in the ad, apart from of course Deepika Padukone who is every bit a sportsperson as much as she is an actress.

So allow us to acquaint you with some of the sportswomen who made the ad look so brilliant.

1. Jyoti Ann Burrett, footballer

The 26-year-old footballer ranks 57 in FIFA rankings and has played for Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club in England. She holds a degree in Sports and Health Science from the University of Exeter but turned down several prestigious jobs to follow her passion.

2. Joshana Chinappa, squash player

Ranked 10 in the world rankings, Joshana became the first Indian sportswoman to win the British Squash Championship in 2003. She also earned India's first Commonwealth Games gold medal in collaboration with Dipika Pallikal in 2014.

3. Rani Rampal, hockey player

Rampal was all of 15 when she joined the Indian women's national hockey team. The player is the only Indian to earn a nomination for the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Women's Young Player of the Year Award in 2010.

4. Tanvie Hans, footballer

Hans became of the first few Indians to play football for the English League. The British-Indian, who was born in Delhi, also went on to play two seasons for Tottenham Hotspurs LFC and Fulham LFC.

5. Ishita Malaviya, surfer

6. Harmanpreet Kaur, cricketer

Kar is the captain of India's national cricket team. And it was her captaincy that helped her team rank fourth in the world ICC rankings. 

7. Namrata Purohit, pilates trainer

A national-level squash player, Purohit turned to pilates after suffering a knee injury. She is one of the world's youngest Stott Pilates instructors, and has trained cricketers such as Abhishek Nayar and Dhawal Kulkarni, footballers like Renedy Singh and Manandeep Singh, and celebrities like Neha Dhupia and Shibani Dandekar.

8. Shubhlakshmi Sharma, cricketer

A valuable asset in the national team, Sharma is a right-hand batter and a right-arm medium bowler. Sharma was only 18 when she joined the cricket squad.

9. Smriti Mandhana, cricketer

The left-hand batswoman was only 9 years old when she joined Maharashtra's Under-15, state side. She became a recognised face after scoring the half-century in her debut test match that helped India win against England.
