HYDERABAD: The new capital city of Amaravati will get the much-publicised 'signature' towers by 2019. According to the proposal on development of Amaravati under Swiss challenge method submitted by the consortium of Singapore-based companies, the signature towers will be the first mega structures that will be constructed in the seed capital.
Under the Swiss challenge mode, the successful bidder should construct the towers with a built-up area of eight lakh sq ft within 36 months of signing the agreement with the AP government.
The Singapore consortium, which is the original project proponent, has proposed to develop 50 acres in the first phase. The work on the signature towers will begin soon after the completion of official formalities.
Sources said the Singapore consortium is planning to build the towers on the lines of the International Tech Park (ITPL) in Bangalore. Incidentally, Ascendas, which is leading the consortium, had built the ITPL.
The developer under the Swiss challenge method will be selected in September.
