ABI: Theresa May appointment a “positive day”

Theresa May

Trade body vows to work closely with government over insurance industry Brexit issues.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has commented on Theresa May becoming Prime Minister.

Huw Evans, the director general of the ABI congratulated May on taking up the role.

"The appointment of our second woman Prime Minister is a positive day in British public life which will hopefully encourage many more women to stand for election to Parliament," Evans said.

He noted that the trade body had worked closely with May's Home Office team over reform of riot damages legislation and with her
