Western Sydney Wanderers are trying to hold on to one of the A-League's best fullbacks after rejecting an offer for Scott Jamieson from a Swedish powerhouse.

It is understood Swedish runners-up IFK Gothenburg submitted an offer for the defender this week that was rejected by the club. While the Wanderers are eager to hang on to Jamieson, it is understood IFK have indicated their intent to submit an improved offer during this transfer window.

The 27-year-old left back is emerging as one of the main transfer targets of IFK after a stellar season with the Wanderers last campaign.

Jamieson was scouted by the 18-time champions following his role in the Wanderers' march to the A-League final where he played all but four minutes of the entire campaign.

A potential move to Sweden would be the second spell in Europe for Jamieson who spent two seasons with Bolton Wanderers before returning to Australia to play with Adelaide United, Sydney FC, Perth Glory and the Wanderers.

Western Sydney Wanderers declined to comment on the transfer offer for Jamieson when contacted by Fairfax Media.
