Puducherry, Jul 14 (UNI) Lauding the service of Jipmer, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayansamy said the research work had been accorded prime importance in the institution which is a prestigious one after AIIMS in New Delhi and PGI in Chandigarh. Speaking at the foundation day programme of Jipmer here last night, Mr Narayansamy said the standard of medical treatment and education set up by Jipmer should be emulated by the government medical college and both the institutions should grow side by side. Thanking the authorities for the Jipmer branch in Karaikal, the Chief minister said the ONGC had initiated steps to set up a Super Speciality hospital in Karaikal and a sum of Rs.30 crore had been sanctioned. However,the project could not take off due to obvious reasons. Now Jipmer came forward to start a medical college with hospital there. Speaking on the occasion, Jipmer President Dr.Bhan said the institute has disproved the myth that only corporate hospitals can render high end medical services. JIPMER is now providing many super specialty services which are affordable to the poor and common man besides standing as an unique institution. To enhance these services, we need to work together and achieve many more goals. This is possible only by team work with commitment to bring best patient care services,he added.
