QATAR Red Crescent Society's (QRCS) branch in Al Khor continues to serve the local community in Al Shamal region, with food provisions for poor families and gifts for hospitalised children.
Throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan, the branch distributed food to 230 low-income families in Al Khor and neighbouring districts.
Each family received food packages of rice, sugar, vegetable oil, and milk. The recipients thanked QRCS for these supplies, which represent a form of humanitarian solidarity with vulnerable groups of society.
A team of the branch also visited the Paediatrics department of Al Khor Hospital to distribute gifts and toys to the children being treated there, with a view to making them happy and involve them in the celebrations of Ramadan.
The hospital's Public Relations department praised QRCS' visits, which this year cheered 10 children.
Besides, the QRCS branch organised its annual campaign at mosques to offer medical advice and sugar/pressure tests to people for free. At least 300 men and women were informed about the benefits of fasting and how to avoid unhealthy practices, under the supervision of the Mosques Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
QRCS Branch in Al Khor works hard to provide social and humanitarian services for the people of Al Shamal region, with a view to enhancing QRCS' influence in that part of Qatar as an auxiliary to the State of Qatar in its humanitarian and social policies locally and abroad, contributing to the development of local communities and designing customised services and social programmes for specific regions.
