Madurai: A man from Palani in Dindigul district on Wednesday urged the Madurai bench of the Madras high court to give a direction to the Ayakudi police to permit termination of his minor daughter's pregnancy under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act.
Justice P Devadass sought a reply from the police and adjourned hearing on the plea by a week.

The parents appeared before the court and said their daughter became pregnant after she was raped by a minor boy.
The girl's father had lodged a complaint before the police on February 15 this year stating that their minor daughter went missing from February 13. The police, who registered a girl missing case, came to know that the girl was kidnapped by a minor boy of the same locality. The police secured both of them in the next two months. Investigations revealed that the boy promised her that he would marry her and raped her. Following this, the police altered the earlier case and booked him for offences, including rape, under the IPC as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police produced the boy before the Juvenile Justice Board and took the girl to the Palani government hospital for medical examination. The medical report said she was pregnant.
