A folk artist's slice of life

The film's story also stresses upon corporate companies invading a village and how the folk artists are being looked down.

Summave Aaduvom marks the second directorial venture of actor Kaadhal Sugumar. This film is about the life of folk artists residing in villages in Tamil Nadu, and is a comedy drama that talks about the difficulties faced by folk artists after the advent of films.

According to Sugumar, this film also has traces of his own life. He said, “I came to Chennai with an aim to succeed in Kollywood. This is still a dream for many artists in our villages. My film is a reflection of these thoughts, but in a comical manner.”

The film’s story also stresses upon corporate companies invading a village and how the folk artists are being looked down.

“There is a segment in the film where a corporate company’s officials demean the folk artists. These artists challenge the company, saying that cinema is only an offshoot of folk art — and if given a chance, they can complete the film in 30 days. Whether the folk artists succeed in making a film or not forms the crux of the story.”
