Everton considering move for Sevilla striker Fernando Llorente - sources

Everton are considering a move for Sevilla striker Fernando Llorente, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Sevilla are thought to be willing to let Llorente move on this summer after the experienced forward failed to hold a regular place in the side last season.

Former Juventus front man Llorente scored eight goals for Sevilla last season, helping them win the Europa League for a third successive year, but he could be interested in a move in search of regular first-team football.

The news of Llorente's possible availability has alerted a number of clubs across Europe and now Everton are keeping tabs on the Spain international's situation.

New Everton boss Ronald Koeman is keen to add to his firepower at Goodison Park this summer as he looks to revamp a squad he inherited from Roberto Martinez.

Koeman's need for striking reinforcements could be increased should he lose last season's top scorer Romelu Lukakau. But as ESPN FC revealed last month, the club are planning to offer the Belgian a new deal to ward off interest from rival clubs.

Koeman is aware he needs to bolster the squad's forward line even if Lukaku stays, with Arouna Kone and Oumar Niasse having so far struggled to convince at the club.

Koeman was linked with making a move on former Southampton forward Graziano Pelle, who Koeman coached at the club, but the Italian is no longer on the radar after moving to China earlier this month. With Pelle out of the picture, Koeman could now switch his attentions to Llorente who is similar in style.

Llorente, who became one of the most feared strikers in Europe during his eight years at Athletic Bilbao, has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past as he's seen as having the ideal game for English football.
