Newmarket native and NHL superstar Connor McDavid will suit up for Hockey Night in Simcoe County.
McDavid will be playing in the event at the Barrie Molson Centre on Aug. 11 for the second straight year and he could dawn a “C.” Organizers plan to ask the Edmonton Oiler to be captain of one of the teams.
The other team will be led by former Barrie Colt and NHL Rookie of the Year, Aaron Ekblad. Joining Ekblad and McDavid is Darcy Tucker, Dale Hawerchuk, Alan Thicke, and Matt Beleskey.
This is the ninth year of the event, which supports Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Georgian Bay General Hospital and Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. The Barrie Colts Community Fund will also benefit.
