Thierry Henry has left his post as Under-18s coach at Arsenal, holding the position for less than a year before splitting ways with the team he helped make history with in England.
Henry, who also works as a pundit for Sky Sports, reportedly had his offer to work at the club for free rejected by Arsene Wenger who is said to have felt Henry's role at the network presented a conflict of interest for the Gunners, preferring the Frenchman to work full time at the club.
Henry completed his A license coaching qualification while working with Arsenal's juniors, and must now coach a team in order to secure his UEFA pro license, something he had hoped to achieve with the Under-18s.
Henry isn't the first to exit the Gooner doors, but he's the latest of a number of Arsenal legends to leave the club. Dennis Bergkamp turned down an offer to scout for Wenger, insteading heading back home to Ajax where he is now a director. Patrick Vieira jumped ship to work with Manchester City before moving on to coach New York City FC, while newly retired Mikel Arteta allegedly turned down an offer to stay at the Emirates to join Pep Guardiola's new reign at City.
Whatever the reason for Henry's departure, the former striker is no longer at the club. There's no indication he'll leave his post at Sky Sports, but if he's to secure his UEFA pro license he's going to have to find somewhere that will let him complete his coaching requirements. Maybe Manchester City has space for him.
