"This beauty? My mom. She was the difference in many lives. Many lives. We say goodbye to her today. Safe crossing, mom! Hanx," Hanks captioned a portrait of his mother.

"This wonderful lady gave birth to my husband, and three other children," Wilson added on Instagram. "Thank you for bringing my love into the world. She is at peace now."

Hanks followed up by posting a picture of the State Theatre in Red Bluff, Calif. The actor's mom lived in the city following her divorce from Hanks' dad, Amos Hanks, in 1960.

"Red Bluff, California. Saw many movies here with our Mom. Thanks for all who came to see her off. Hanx," the star wrote.

Frager was also mom to Hanks' three siblings, Sandra, Larry and Jim. The actor's dad died at age 67 in 1992.
