Ghana sports minister says he wants suspended Sulley Muntari to return to the national team after the midfielder apologised for his conduct at the 2014 World Cup.

Nii Lante Vanderpuye wants Muntari to return to the national team even though the government's commission on Brazil scandal ruled that the players must not be considered for selection into the national team in future.

Muntari, 31, recently apologised for his burst-up at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil after physically attacking a management member, two years after the incident.

The player was indefinitely suspended from the Black Stars for the "unprovoked physical attack" on Black Stars Management Committee member Moses Armah 'Parker' at the global gathering at a meeting over their then unpaid bonuses.

The minister admits even though he has no power to order the return of the Saudi-based player he thinks the Al Ittihad star must be allowed to play for the four-time African champions.

'I don't know about him coming back to the Black Stars because I don't have the capacity and the mandate to decide who plays in the Black Stars," Nii Lante said on TV3.

'I have heard his statement of apology and I think to some extent it is the right thing he has done. He is a Ghanaian who has realized that what he did in some way was improper and he has apologized and said I am available anytime you want my service, for me it is a good thing he did so it is to the coach to decide if he need him or he doesn't need him.

'Everybody was indiscipline to the extent that the indiscipline was acted towards the minister and I said it wasn't the right to be done but to ensure discipline, the administrators must be first be discipline first.

"But what I want to say is that Sulley was wrong and I agree with that no matter what because he could have exercise patience and show some respects to the GFA management member.

"But he now comes out and say I am sorry, I believe in second chances and I believe he sincere with that apology because his colleagues has come out and defend him as well and I believe he has talk to them."

Muntari has stated that he wants to return to the national team after he apologised over his conduct in Brazil.

Ghana looks to have moved on from that era as young players have stepped in and excelled in his absence.

The Black Stars reached the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations without players like Muntari and Micahel Essien.
