Sourav Ganguly, as a player, had the reputation of being fearless, and as a skipper few people wanted to get on his wrong side.

When he took over a side, the cricket world was reeling from the match-fixing controversy which involved the likes of Hansie Cronje and Mohammad Azharuddin.

However, no bookie approached Ganguly in all his playing years. Reports quoted bookies as being afraid to tell the Prince of Kolkata to throw a match. Not only were they scared of him, but they also felt that he could put them out of business.

Ganguly had once revealed that he was never approached by bookies in his entire career saying his no-nonsense attitude helped him to portray himself as a man who would not tolerate these kind of corrupt practices.

It just shows how intimidating Ganguly could be for bookies. It is a credit to the man himself that he had a strong personality which was too much to handle for any bookie.
