Anti-influx forum files FIR against cops

Guwahati: The Prabrajan Virodhi Mancha (PVM), an anti-infiltration forum led by Supreme Court lawyer Upamanyu Hazarika, filed a case against Sipajhar Police in Darrang district on Tuesday for failing to act against illegal settlers in the Dholpur area.
In the complaint, the PVM said the cops have failed to act against hundreds of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators who have encroached upon a large chunk of land in the area.
The forum alleged that the illegal settlers have also procured solar lights and toilets distributed under various government schemes.
The PVM announced that it would soon start filing FIRs against errant government officials who have failed to act against illegal encroachment in their respective areas.
