Indore: Witnesses from Dhar submitted gift articles as evidences before high court on Tuesday during the hearing of a petition challenging election of Dhar MLA Neena Verma. Justice Jarat Kumar Jain has listed the matter for July 28, when three more witnesses will depose before the court on behalf of petitioner Balmukund Gautam, who has challenged the election of Neena Verma as Dhar MLA.

Abhinav Dhanotkar, counsel for the petitioner told TOI that bags, caps, door hangings and steel utensils were submitted by the witnesses Mahendra Singh, Burhan Singh, Arun Darbar, Lakshman Singh, Lakhan Singh and Bharat Singh who are residents of Bittham and Dattham villages, which come under Dhar constituency.
The witnesses testified that these items were distributed to them by Neena Verma on October 22, 2013 which was after Verma had filed her nomination for the assembly elections.
They told the court that Verma had asked each person to vote for her while distributing these articles.
Verma and Gautam have been arch rivals since 2008. In 2013 elections, Gautam lost to Verma by a margin of thousand votes.
Petition challenging her election in 2013 was filed by Gautam on January 31, 2014, accusing Verma of employing unethical means to entice voters during the electioneering.
