Yavatmal police, acting on a tip off, nabbed three accused involved in the June 23 broad daylight armed robbery from Rana Pratap Nagar Gate of Wadgaon gram panchayat area on Monday.

The statement by the police had almost led the Delhi high court to put an end to criminal proceedings against the accused, Rajvir Singh, till the public prosecutor Sunil Sharma smelt a rat and urged the court to probe further.
Yavatmal: Yavatmal police, acting on a tip off, nabbed three accused involved in the June 23 broad daylight armed robbery from Rana Pratap Nagar Gate of Wadgaon gram panchayat area on Monday.
The trio had barged into the residence of Chemist and Druggist Association president Pankaj Nanwani and looted his mother’s goldchain worth Rs30,000/ at gunpoint before fleeing on a bike.

SP Akhilesh Kumar Singh said the accused Suraj Arun Mauriya (19) and Subham Manoj Gulhane (19) are residents of Amravati while Aman Ramprasad Kaithwas (20) is a resident of Wadgaon.
SP Singh said the cops had prepared a sketch of one of the accused who was captured in the CCTV camera of Nanwani’s house. “Seeing the sketch, an unknown caller gave the tipoff that the trio was at Rana Pratap Nagar Gate.”
The cops nabbed the trio from the spot and place them under arrest. The trio confessed to have committed the crime.
Later, the police raided the rented room of the accused in Wadgaon area and seized a country made pistol, three live cartridges, lethal weapons, silver ornaments and other articles.
The Amravati-based accused were in touch with Aman and had come to stay in the rented room in Yavatmal for over one and half months with the sole intention of committing a robbery, says the investigating officer Santosh Kendre.
“They were produced before the court which granted their PCR till July 16,” Kendre said, adding that they would probe if more crimes were committed by the trio.
