“There have been reports of violation of safety norms. So we have issued a show cause notice to the company. Strict action will be taken if adherence to safety norms is not ensured,” said Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

On July 5, Uber driver Santu Pramanik was arrested after a 27-year-old woman complained that he threatened her with “abduction” and “rape”.

Adhikari said the notice was issued taking into account this incident as well overall safety standards.

In July 2015, another Uber driver was arrested from the city for allegedly masturbating in front of a woman passenger. (IANS)
