New interactive touchscreen monitor released

Caltron, a provider of monitor technology, has released its LBT-1503OC monitor with adaptable open-frame metal construction and projected capacitive, or P-Cap, touchscreen capability, according to a company press release.

The open-frame design allows for integration into existing HMI applications, including older formats. The LBT-1503OC is expected to be implemented in a range of industries that require durable touchscreen monitors for heavy-duty use, including retail, interactive kiosks, aviation, ATMs and health care.

The company said P-Cap is superior to other touch technologies such as resistive and surface acoustic wave. P-Cap has multiple points of contact that can be recognized simultaneously so users are able to quickly complete touchscreen tasks quickly. It is also ideal for indoor and outdoor applications. It is moisture- and dust-resistant, stable when exposed to variances in temperature, and unaffected by ambient noise, the release said.

Caltron outfitted the LBT-1503OC with LED backlighting. In addition to providing 1024 x 768 XGA resolution to the LCD panel, LED backlighting uses 20 percent less energy and contains no harmful mercury, according to the release.

The touchscreen monitor's 15-inch size is popular among businesses seeking a mid-size screen that offers good visibility in low-light conditions. Additionally, the LBT-1503OC has a brightness of 360 nits. Video capabilities of the new touchscreen monitor include standard video graphic array input and optional inputs for a BNC connector, S-video, digital visual interface and composite video.
