A 34-year-old garbage truck driver was beaten to death by his colleagues over a trivial row in Peenya on Monday.

Varadaraju, a resident of Dairy Circle, had driven his truck to the solid waste management unit situated at Thippenahalli to upload, where other trucks are awaiting their turn. According to the police, Varadaraju, who was in a hurry, asked the staff to unload his truck first to which the other drivers objected.

Heated arguments ensued between Varadaraju and another truck driver Srinivasa who along with his associates Mallesh and Obalappa kicked and punched Varadaraju. The others intervened and pacified them.

Varadaraju went to the cabin of the truck to rest, while Srinivasa and others left the place after unloading. When the staff tried to wake up Varadaraju after unloading the truck, they found him dead. They alerted the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the body to MS Ramaiah Hospital for post-mortem.

Based on the information, the police arrested Srinivasa, Mallesh and Obalappa and remanded them to judicial custody.
