OECD: Hungarians worked fewer hours last year
The average number of hours Hungarians worked in a year fell from 1,858 in 2014 to 1,749 last year, an all-time low, according to a report by the OECD, the online news portal mfor.hu said yesterday.
Hungarians worked roughly 2.5 weeks less in 2015 than in the previous year, which puts the country in the middle of the field regionally and at the bottom of the Visgrad Four countries, the portal said. Slovaks clocked an average of 1,754 working hours, the Czechs averaged 1,779 hours and the Poles 1,963 hours last year.
The number of hours worked in Hungary has not been this low since 1995, when the OECD first published the data. A high peak was recorded in 1999, when Hungarians worked 2,040 hours a year, the OECD said.
