Ex-MIM corporator taken into custody for assaulting TSSPDCL employee

Hyderabad: Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader and former Reinbazaar corporator Khaja Bilal Ahmed on Monday was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL).
It was earlier reported in these columns that a video floating in cyberspace purportedly showed an enraged Ahmed assaulting and abusing a man who has now been identified as TSSPDCL assistant engineer Venkatesh.
According to Chaderghat inspector G Sattaiah, the incident took place at a hospital near Malakpet on July 7 around 2 am. "We have arrested Khaja Bilal and have booked a case under section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code. He is now in remand," Sattaiah said.The MIM leader will be taken to the Chanchalguda jail.
