Mysuru: Writers De Javare Gowda (Dejagow) and K V Puttappa (Kuvempu) were role models for everyone, said writer Malali Vasanth Kumar on Monday.
Paying tributes to Dejagow at an event organized at Hardwicke Independent PU College here, the writer said Kuvempu and Dejagow were true representatives of Kannada literary world.
"Kuvempu was influenced by Swami Vivekananda and had a universal thinking," the writer said, adding: "Dejagow contributed immensely to the growth of Manasgangothri, the PG campus of University of Mysore.
Besides enriching Kannada literary world through his 400 books, he encouraged and groomed many Kannada writers too."
K P Devakumar of Catholic Society of India (Karnataka state diocese) called upon students to read the books of Kuvempu and Dejagow to get a clear perspective and vision. "'Both of them, being great writers, inspired many people through their literature," he said.
Principal Hirimarali Dharmaraju and scholar T V Venkatachala Shastri were present.
