Hyderabad: The Telangana government has started preparations for hosting the prestigious summit meeting of Internet Corporation of Assigned Name and Number (ICANN). The 57th ICANN summit meeting will be held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in the city between November 3 and 9.
Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma on Monday convened a meeting to take stock of the ongoing preparations.
He instructed officials to make all arrangements so that the image of Hyderabad is burnished on the global arena as the city is hosting the event.
Rajiv Sharma said 4,000 delegates from over 120 countries are taking part in the ICANN summit. He directed the officials to put together the event on the lines of the World Congress of Metropolis Conference held in 2014 at the HICC.
He instructed various departments involved in the summit meet to work in coordination ensuring safety and security of the delegates apart from putting place the system for arranging accommodation and food for them.
"There will be special arrangements for smooth immigration and transportation of the delegates," Rajiv Sharma said. A control room will be established at HICC comprising of nodal officers from all the departments. The six-day summit meeting will include interactive sessions on the trends on internet.
