Former MLA dies

Belagavi: Former Khanapur MLA and senior Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) leader Vasantrao Parashuram Patil, 79, died here on Monday.
He was suffering from asthma and was taking treatment at a private hospital in the city for the past eight days.
The final rites were held at his native village Garlgunji in Khanapur taluk.
Thousands of people, including many political leaders of the district and neighbouring Maharashtra, paid their last respects to the departed leader.
Patil was elected to the assembly in 1983. He was actively associated with several cooperative societies in the district.
