Kalyan: In an exemplary show of honesty, an autorickshaw driver returned Rs 1.50 lakh to a passenger from Dombivli who was carrying it to pay as token money for his new flat.
The incident took place on Sunday when the passenger, Krishna Gosavi took an auto from Sagarli area to Davdi-area based builder's office in Dombivli to pay money for his new flat.
While travelling in the auto, Gosavi kept the bag full of money on the seat and then forgot to take it when he got down.
Meanwhile, when driver Prabhakar More reached home, he found the bag on the back seat while cleaning the vehicle. He opened the bag to find the money and some documents. He immediately alerted local BJP corporator Mahesh Patil, saying he wanted to return the bag to its real owner.
Patil said after More informed him of the incident, he called the driver to his office where they found contact details of Gosawi. They also called a policeman from the local police station and the duo returned the bag with the money in the cop's presence. Patil said, “More is known to be an honest auto driver in my ward and this is the reason that when he found the bag, he alerted me saying he wanted to return it to the owner and asked me to help.“
