LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has condoled the demise of social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi and said that his mission should keep moving forward, urging all governments to help Edhi Foundation in this regard. In his condolence message, Ch Parvez Elahi said that the nation has given title of ‘Khadam-e-Azam’ to Abdul Sattar Edhi, which goes on the show the amount of services he rendered for the country. “Some people become self-proclaimed “Khadam-e-Ala” but they have no performance to back their claim.” Elahi said that people like Abdul Sattar Edhi are born rarely, adding that the Almighty had blessed him with many capabilities. “Every eye is shedding a tear on his demise today. We pray that the Almighty grants patience to his family to bear this great loss and place his soul in eternal peace. He said that the mission of selfless services to the people, which were started by Edhi, would be carried forward and his name would be kept alive till end of the world. Edhi Foundation should work with greater zeal and dedication so that what work Edhi has left behind, should be carried onward with same spirit as was in his lifetime, he added. He said before launching Rescue 1122 service, he had consulted Abdul Sattar Edhi, who appreciated the government’s effort. He urged all governments of the country to work hard like Edhi instead of mere lip servicing. Everyone should follow Edhi’s message of selfless service without any discrimination and with limited resources, he added. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Ch Muhammad Sarwar on the occasion said Abdul Sattar Edhi had been the support of dilapidated people in real meanings. “We have no words to pay tribute to this great personality,” he added. Sarwar said Edhi was the identity of Pakistan at international level, adding that services rendered by him for orphans would be remembered till the day of judgment. Former PTI Punjab president Ijaz Ahmed Chuadhry in a press statement expressed grief over the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi and said his name would alive in our hearts forever and his services would never be forgotten. Pakistan People’s People (PPP) Punjab leader Mian Manzoor Wattoo said that Edhi’s death is a national loss and it won’t be easy to fulfill this gap. He said that Edhi presented Pakistan as a role model in front of world through his humanitarian services, adding that Edhi was a role model for people, especially for those organisations working for humanity not only in country but also across the world.
