West Shore RCMP have unveiled a new memorial for fallen Const. Sarah Beckett, who died in the line of duty earlier this year.

The granite stone plaque was installed Monday in a memorial garden commemorating Beckett at the West Shore detachment in Langford.

It reads: "In honour of the memory of RCMP Constable Sarah Anne Beckett, regimental #51939, perished in the line of duty April 5th, 2016," and includes the RCMP's motto "Maintain the Right."

Beckett was killed in an April 5 crash that is still under investigation by the RCMP’s Island District General Investigations Section and the Independent Investigations Office.

The 32-year-old Mountie, wife and mother of two was killed when her cruiser was struck in a Langford intersection.
