New legislation needed for public temples: Wagh
PANAJI: BJP’s St Andre MLA, Vishnu Surya Wagh has said that he fully supports the demand made by Marcaim’s Navdurga Pratisthan to scrap the Mazania law prevailing since the Portuguese rule.
“It’s high time we come up with new legislation on the lines of what the Maharashtra government has done. They have brought all public temples under the Commissioner of Charity. Goa should take similar steps,” he said.
He said that the government should also dissolve the committee of Mahajans and appoint an administrator for the Shri Navdurga Devasthan, as they have failed to carry out their responsibilities. “It’s the people of Madkai who have volunteered to do the service of Devi Navdurga," he stated.
