3,000 Magadh University Part-III results rectified
Patna: Magadh University (MU) is rectifying the marksheets of Degree Part III (Hons) on a war footing at its Patna branch office here. About 3,000 cases have been disposed of so far, much to the relief of many students. Dispelling doubts of guardians and students that the anomalies were caused due to slackness on the part of the university, MU Patna branch office OSD Asha Singh said most of the results were kept pending due to previous marks wanting (PMW) reason.
Only those students who cleared the Degree Part I and II examinations, were given Part III results. Thus, results of Part I and Part II should be posted first before declaring the final results, she said, adding that most of the students who submitted results of previous examinations, were issued fresh results in no time.
Singh said about 1.47 lakh students had appeared at the Degree Part III examinations this year from science, arts and commerce streams. About 60% cases were received at the branch office about re-evaluation of answer books and the rest were for previous marks wanting (PMW), absent and re-totalling purposes. However, the university set up a scrutiny committee headed by a team of experienced teachers of the university to look into the grievances of students, she said, adding there was no provision for re-evaluation of answer books and thus the scrutiny committee promptly disposed of the PMW cases.
She also said the university has made all arrangements to upload the rectified results online to the university site so that the students could download their results conveniently. The Patna branch office is also issuing certificates to students on the basis of rectified results if they asked for, she said, adding about 700 PMW cases were resolved so far.
The university and the Patna branch office are scrutinizing the Degree Part III results of 196 colleges. Since the university functioning is paralysed due to ongoing staff agitation, the Patna branch office is coping with the pressure of Magadh region colleges while rectifying anomalies in the results, an MU official said, adding that about 1,000 cases have been pouring in daily at the branch office in connection with re-evaluation of answer books, re-totalling and PMW cases.
Singh said the university has, for the first time, uploaded the results online on the pattern of CBSE and got evaluated answer books at the two centralized centres here with an aim to publish results on time. However, the university swung into action fast and rectified the results within a week now, she said adding the experienced retired and serving teachers from different MU colleges were working hard to scrutinize the results at the branch office here.
