Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Partners has signed an output deal with Showtime that will give the premium cable network rights to air feature films released by the company through 2021. The deal is an extension of a previous agreement with Spielberg’s DreamWorks Pictures.

Under the deal, feature films from Amblin Entertainment, DreamWorks Pictures and Participant Media released between now and December, 2021 will air on Showtime, The Movie Channel, Flix and Showtime multiplex channels and streaming services after their theatrical runs. The agreement covers up to nine movies — up to six from Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks Pictures and up to three from Participant Media.

Among the upcoming feature films set to be included under the existing agreement with DreamWorks Pictures and the new Amblin deal are “The Light Between Oceans,” starring Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender; “The Girl on the Train,” starring Emily Blunt; and “Ghost in the Shell,” starring Scarlett Johansson.

“We are delighted to finalize our output deal with Amblin Partners, as we continue to offer DreamWorks Pictures and now Amblin and Participant theatrical films to our subscribers,” said Kent Sevener, senior VP, content acquisition for Showtime Networks. “Coupled with our award-winning series, specials, documentaries and sports offerings, as well as our current supply of theatrical titles, these critically-acclaimed films add incredible value to our programming slate.”

“Showtime has been a terrific partner for many years, and we are thrilled that they will continue to be a home for our pictures for years to come,” said Amblin Partner co-CEO Jeff Small.

Amblin Partners was formed in December, combining DreamWorks Studios, Participant Media, Reliance Entertainment and Entertainment One.

“We’re pleased to bring Participant films to the Showtime audience,” said Participant CEO David Linde. “This is our first television output deal and marks an important step as the company continues to grow through our partnership in Amblin Partners.”
