Gauteng’s leading artists from the group Dostana have embarked on a musical journey of humanitarism by coming to the aid of the plight of the Bhoopal family.
Dostana has decided to stage an event to raise funds towards the on-going medical expenses for theBhoopal family’s baby – Ayaan who suffers from multiple medical conditions, all of which are life threatening, with the most serious being: tricuspid atresia type 2C and pulmonary vein stenosis.
He has undergone 5 open heart surgeries already, endured so much of medical upheaval yet remains a phenomenal inspiration to anyone he comes into contact with. Oblivious to the seriousness of his condition he is a baby in every sense and deserves the best opportunity of a full life and it is in this spirit that ‘Dil ki Dhadkan’ (‘The Beat of a Heart’) was conceptualised.
The show is a musical expression of the life of baby Ayaan Bhoopal and will deliver music of the finest quality played live that highlights his journey through life.

The delicate medical condition that Ayaan lives with shows no mercy towards this beautiful baby and his health seems to hang in the balance. During the first week of June 2016 he fell in with flu like symptoms and had to be rushed back to hospital.
Under examination it was found out that he had a case of pneumonia and influenza B which earned him another stay at Sunninghill Hospital. I am glad to say that he spent just about two weeks at hospital before being discharged and is back home recovering well at the moment.
The thing is that the teaching Ayaan provides at just 6 years of age is beyond understanding. With a life threatening condition you would think he would be this introverted, reclusive, shy type person but I challenge you to try and find a smidgen of negativity or sadness on his face…you will not. In the face of adversity Ayaan is a life testimony of the way everyone should live life…with a smile and embracing their challenges making the most of what they have.
He is a stark reminder that no matter how big our problems there are so many out there with even bigger problems. He inspires me and this event may be put together by us but is certainly driven by Ayaan’s resolve. He is a living miracle and one anyone who comes into contact with will leave all the richer for.

I had the chance to speak to Ayaan and he is excited about the show and health permitting will be present and the star of the night. He would love to see everyone there because after all it is the warmth of the human spirit that gives us strength more than anything else.
After spending time with his family they are so thankful for the support of everyone who attends because buying a ticket and attending not only helps with expenses but gives them strength that they are not alone in this journey.
