Gerard Pique could be set for a stunning return to Manchester United this summer, according to Ladbrokes.

Odds of the Spaniard joining Jose Mourinho’s Old Trafford revolution have been halved from 16/1 to 8/1, making the Red Devils favourites to snap up the man who left for Barcelona in 2008.

Their local rivals Manchester City are 14/1 second-favourites, while French giants PSG are 16s to add the four-time Champions League winner to their ranks.

Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “It might not be just Pogba returning to familiar surroundings at United this summer, with the Red Devils now favourites to pluck Pique from Barca.”

Manchester United have had a  €132m (£112m) offer for Paul Pogba rejected, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian outlet claim that deal would be for five years worth €15m per year, making him the third-highest paid player in the world behind Cristiano Ronaldo and and Lionel Messi.

It is unsure whether United will increase their bid for the Frenchman.

Although Manchester United are poised to make a world-record £100m bid for Paul Pogba, they are also keen on bringing PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi to the club this summer - according to The Sun.

Matuidi played a key role in France's run to the Euro 2016 final, and is reportedly seen by Jose Mourinho as the suitable partner for Pogba in the heart of the United midfield.

In addition to energy and workrate, Matuidi woiuld bring added stability to a Manchester United midfield, and provide competition for places, with Michael Carrick, Morgan Schniderlin, Ander Herrera and Bastian Schweinsteiger all vying for a starting berth at the club.
