Any woman can do business by availing 'Mudra Yojna' loan: Smriti Irani

New Delhi, Jul 11 (UNI) Union Textiles Minister Smriti Zubin Irani today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mudra Yojna' will come in handy for women who wish to become entrepreneurs and start their own independent businesses.
Addressing the 15th annual convocation ceremony of Vandana Luthra Curls and Curves Institute of Beauty and Nutrition, Ms Irani said, ''Beauty and wellness industry as of now is a Rs 20,000 crore industry. The government is giving a big push to the industry by encouraging more and more women to pursue this line and providing them easy loans ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 at minimal interest rate.''
Pointing out the students' background who were present at the convocation to receive their passing out certificates from the VLCC centre, she said, ''The girls as I see do not belong to well-to-do families and hence more the need to make them stand on their feet. In order to become financially sound, they need to arrange for capital and take loans.
"The government has also started initiatives like ''Pradhan Mantri Vikas Yojana'', ''Seekho Aur Kamao'' scheme. The government has done all to make these women the next Vandana Luthras."
Vandana Luthra, VLCC founder and vice-chairperson and chairperson, Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council, after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to train backward classes, said, ''The future of our country lies in its competitiveness and innovation through education and skill development. We will observe 'World Youth Skills Day on July 15 that will highlight the importance of skill training to the youth for overall development. The motive is to train maximum youths and partner with PSUs to ensure self-sustainability for CSR projects.''
On future initiatives, Ms Luthra said, ''VLCC will focus on delivering higher quality through Train the Trainer programme to ensure quality benchmarks; introduce beauty and wellness sector related courses in schools and colleges, in association with Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill council.
''We will also introduce skill based training programmes run by governments -- Central and state for skills training."
